"The mystery is less important than the mania it induces, and the crisp chemistry of the ensemble, which includes Max Casella, Trieste Kelly Dunn, Jennifer Prediger and Dylan Baker." - WALL STREET JOURNAL “With its sarcastic dialogue, deadpan humor, believably flawed characters and surreal logic, “Applesauce” may expand Tukel’s growing indie fan base into niche release.” Variety “ It’s a film that keeps its viewer wondering what will happen next, from the very opening of the film, to the moment the credits roll. APPLESAUCE radiates with wit and charm and is one of the funniest films of the year,.” Icons of Fright “Everyone and everything in "Applesauce" is a comic time bomb prone to explode at any moment.” - INDIEWIRE “It’s sure to satisfy anyone with a morbid and suspicious view of the world. Or anyone who likes, you know, laughing.” - BLOODY DISGUSTING “You never know where this story is headed, but you can trust that it will be someplace worth going.” - SLANT MAGAZINE “Applesauce is largely a step in the right direction towards Tukel’s development of an interesting comedic voice, even if his efforts as writer-director are a little scattered.” - THE FILM STAGE “Full of charm and wit, with a little mystery thrown in for good measure, APPLESAUCE is a rare and very original take on the relationship drama and mystery genres, excelling quite well in both… It’s a film that keeps its viewer wondering what will happen next, from the very opening of the film, to the moment the credits roll, and is by far Tukel’s best work yet.” - ICONS OF FRIGHT “Wonderful humor and naturalistic performances by the exceptional cast…Mr. Tukel creates an inviting world populated by individuals whom we can watch and listen to for hours.” - STAGE AND CINEMA "Tukel’s strong script, seamlessly shifting between a well-balanced mixture of genre elements, is amplified by the performances from the four principal cast members." - FILM PULSE “Onur Tukel’s film presents an ultimately bleak portrait of humanity (that it’s all bullshit). It says even more about the world right now that it strikes a chord. GRADE: A-“ - POP INSOMNIACS

Synopsis
Every Tuesday night, radio talk show host Stevie Bricks invites his listeners to call in and share their stories of the worst things they've ever done. And tonight, Ron Welz is ready to share his. But it doesn't take long for Ron's past to catch up with him. And when someone starts sending him body parts, his life begins to fall apart. Who is tormenting him? His insolent high school student? His best friend? His wife? There are eight million people in New York, and everyone's a suspect.

Take dark comedy, mix it with noir, add a dash of horror and stir in some
melodrama, and you have the recipe for one of the most original and unusual movies of the year.
